While beachcombing, I saw faces peering out from the sand. They were on the molted* horseshoe crab shells, strewn along this particular shoreline….To me, it was obvious, these shells were, in essence, a face and a helmet.
So, I decided to gather them, clean them (*note: the shells were NOT from dead crabs…these crabs generally molt 17 times in their life cycle), preserved them, fill the backs with foam, and finally enhancing the facial features already present, with judiciously, applying paint, along with the decorating the “helmet”.
